From Our Vicar

We are so blessed to have the gospel, the Good News, of Christ Jesus. Hopefully, our lives are marked with the joy and confidence that God is at work in the world and is able to work through such broken human beings as we find ourselves to be. This joy and confidence are represented in our logo, the Dancing Fish. This design, drawn by my daughter, Rietta McCain, and adopted by the [St. Paul's] Bishop's Committee several years ago, has three basic features: a fish outline, a cross, and some words.
The fish outline is not the simple, static one said to have been used by early Christians as a safe way to identify one another during times of persecution (one person would draw a simple arc; if the other person drew a matching arc to complete the fish, a brother or sister in the faith had been found). Our fish is in motion, dancing with God and moving through life.
The cross radiates from the center of the fish, so that the ends of the cross arms resemble rays of light. We find our strength in the midst of the body of Christ, but we don't remain safely within the bounds of our community. Each of us goes out into the world to do the work God has given us to do. In doing this work, this holy work of daily living, we are called to use the gifts and strength we have from God in service to one another and to the glory of God, to let our light shine, as the words in the quadrants of the cross remind us.
